SPCC member Lloyd Clasen passes away.

Lloyd Clasen a member since the mid-fifties died after a courageous battle with cancer. He was an active curler (two leagues) until his illness last year. His father Stan Sr. began the Clasen tradition at the SPCC which continues with a half dozen Clasen’s still playing the great game. He left the game for a number of years to mentor his children who were world class speed skaters, Peggy made Olympic appearances. Peggy, Scott and Brad all curl and are active members of the club. I’m sure Lloyd was proud last year when all three won different major bonspiels. Lloyd chaired the Mens International Bonspiel and was a board member in the mid seventies. Scott currently serves on the board and is responsible for the calendar, outside rentals and club correspondence in the off season. Lloyd was a true gentleman on and off the ice who blessed us with three wonderful kids who will carry on the “Clasen Clan” tradition at the SPCC.
