Rugg Spiel

This event is the only remaining "club" spiel reserved for only club teams with a chance to curl in a tournament format, meet other club members outside of your regular league, have a lot of fun, and by the end of the weekend be that much closer to golfing weather. Even if you don't have a complete team, just give Chris or Dave a call (info below) and they will make every attempt to put you together with other curlers to form a team. No guarantees on this one, but we will try.

Who was Mike Rugg
Mike became a member of the St. Paul Curling Club in the 1930’s. In 1958 he founded the Junior Curling Program. In that year he was helped by Rube Benton and Ed Cafferty and there were 37 boys between ages 12-15 in the program. Mike ran the program for the next 30 years and built it into one of the largest Junior programs in the country where the number of kids has more than doubled and the age range has expanded to include kids from under 10 years of age to their late teens. To this day the Junior program continues to foster young interest in the sport and produce the future curlers of tomorrow.
