Primary purpose is to raise money for scholarships to be given to needy students at four of the Community Colleges on the Iron Range in Northern Minnesota. Proceeds go to scholarships that are presented to students attending one of the following four Colleges:

| Prizes: | First event winner gets something symbolic of the iron mining industry (shovels, pickaxes, ball bearings). Other prizes are nominal and donated by individuals and businesses. Team prize drawings and raffle cap off a fun-filled Saturday night.
