2012 Gopher State

The 44th annual Gopher State bonspiel will be in Duluth, March 2-4.

We'll celebrate the holidays Wednesday night with an Ugly Christmas Sweater contest. Extra points if your whole team is outfitted in ugly Christmas sweaters. Each team should bring something to share (snacks, sweets, drinks) after curling.

There are still openings for Cold Cash. Registration remains open.

Play the game to win, but not to humble your opponents. Cheering a missed shot by your opponent is not in the spirit of curling but complimenting your opponent on a good shot is.

Team cooperation and good fellowship are fundamental attributes of curling. Curling possesses a culture which inculcates the finest principles of sportsmanship. It is based on TEAM play and the game depends on the united effort of all four players on the team. The contribution of each is equally important.

START AND END YOUR GAME:
Start and end your game with a hearty handclasp of friendship and goodwill with your opponent. Introduce yourself if you do not know your opponents. Saying "Have a good game" or "Good curling" is traditional at the beginning of the game and "Thanks for the game" at the end.

We have met the enemy and it is us. You want clean ice? Then do your part. Replace aging grippers and brooms, wear clean shoes, and get your palms and knees off the ice quickly to avoid leaving imprints.

Fleece may feel comfortable and warm but it sheds…consider different non-shedding materials for your curling clothes.
